CRABS CURRY


Crab meat is a popu
lar and versatile type of seafood. It is also very healthy and a good addition to a balanced diet as it contains many nutrients. Crabs are of different variety and sizes and one has to break open the shells to find the meat inside, which is sweetish and delicious. These are hard shelled tiger striped crabs which we bought in the local market. All in the family have a liking for the crab curry.










To Prepare the crab curry
:

Ingredients:

1 kg crabs cleaned and washed

For the masala:
  1. 1 1/2 tspns jeerah or cummin seeds
  2. 1 ½ tspn pepper seeds
  3. 8 nos. dried red chillies
  4. 1/2 tspn turmeric powder
  5. 1 marble sized tamarind pulp
  6. 2 big onions
  7. 6 flakes garlic
  8. 3/4 cup grated coconut
  9. Salt to taste.

Method:
  • Grind the masala to a smooth paste, adding water.
  • Heat a tablespoon of cooking oil to a vessel.
  • Fry the finely chopped onion in it, until slightly
  • brownish.
  • Add to it the ground masala.
  • Saute the masala on a medium flame for 5 minutes.
  • Add 1 1/2 cups of water and make a thick gravy.
  • Bring it to a boil and add the crab pieces to it.
  • Simmer for five minutes.
A delicious curry is ready.
